Segment #2: Hurdle Obstacles and Take Risks

Every behavior a courageous person exhibits is a choice. There is a big difference between knee-jerk reactions, being foolhardy and applying courage consciousness. Choose the risks you take so you can creatively navigate your way around, through, or over any obstacles that cross your path. Courageous people know that mediocrity is the kiss of death, so take the risk and step up to the next rung of the ladder (even though that step might feel like double steps), such as attending a networking function where you most likely won’t know a soul or learning a new software that everyone else knows but you’re the reticent rookie. These examples can be intimidating.

  • Question: What would make you feel intimidated to take the next step? Intimidation blocks a person’s ability to step up and reveal her/his courage action?
  • Answer:  To overcome the obstacle of intimidation that keeps a you in StuckThinking™ whether the behavior is from a peer or an internal script is this: Are you willing to “take on the tough project.” If you accepted productivity tip #1 from last week which was to “give yourself permission to claim your courage,” then toss out intimidation and invite a tough project such as requesting a project you’re ready to take on.
  • The quote to prominently post for the week: Erma Bombeck said: “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and I could say: ‘I used everything you gave me’.”
