Courage!
What’s your definition and why is it vital to claim it for yourself? Are you curious about why only 11% of over 750 women researched perceived themselves as courageous? Are you in this group? What allows only a small percentage of women to actively claim their courage? Perhaps you believe courage is only synonymous with being a hero. How might your life change if you discovered that some of your everyday behaviors demonstrate profound courage?
What is this energy that so few women consciously recognize? How can courageous behaviors be claimed, integrated, passed on to others and celebrated? Sandra Ford Walston reveals why courage is the forgotten virtue, why it is a critical energy to “step up” your leadership or career advancement and how it is your roadmap for a truly authentic life. You will discover and chart this vital insight: There is a direct correlation between your “success quotient” and your “courage quotient.”
Sandra Walston is the principal of a 16-year-old leadership consulting firm based in Denver. She is a trailblazer in the field of the feminine behaviors of courage and non-gender courage leadership. An internationally recognized speaker, internationally published author of bestseller COURAGE (Greece and Brazil), corporate trainer, poet, and courage coach, she has appeared in national and regional publications, on many television and radio programs. She has been published in magazines such as Chief Learning Officer (December 2011, “Courage in the Workplace”) and HR Matters, Malaysia (October 2009, “5 Courage Myths at Work”). She has also been published in numerous other magazines such as “Strategic Finance” and “Training & Development.” Sandra distinguishes the difference between the everyday forgotten behaviors of courage and stories steeped in heroism or sensationalism. Her unique 12-point courage diagram called the “Courage Wheel” is the result of more than thirteen years of original research.
Sandra provides skill-based programs for public and private businesses, including Caterpillar, Inc., Procter & Gamble, Auburn University, the FBI, GEI Consultants, Wide Open West, Hitachi Consulting, and Farmers Insurance. With over eleven years of experience with finance professionals, she instructs for the University of Denver Graduate Tax Program Continuing Professional Education courses and she formerly taught for the Colorado Society of CPAs. Additionally, she worked in career outplacement with Drake Beam and Morin. She is qualified to administer and interpret the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® to access challenges in team building, leadership, communication, change, time management, group agreement, and developing camaraderie, competence and trust. She is also certified in the Enneagram, a system of understanding nine different personality types within three general categories.
Internationally published, COURAGE: The Heart and Spirit of Every Woman/Reclaiming the Forgotten Virtue (2002) has been endorsed by Marianne Williamson, Jack Canfield, Neale Donald Walsch, and Harriet Rubin. COURAGE focuses on awakening women to the feminine behaviors of everyday courage. STUCK 12 Steps Up the Leadership Ladder (2010) continues the research to introduce women to courageous leadership skills at work. These two books merge over thirteen years of courage research to reveal how workplace obstacles keep women at all levels stuck and how specific courage actions can be applied to step up the leadership ladder. Her third, non gender book, FACE IT! 12 Obstacles that Hold You Back on the Job (2011) confirms that what holds you back on the job is the same as what hinders achievement—the reluctance to face and live a courageous life. Sandra is a sought-after presenter.
“Make courage your daily legacy.”
